STAR FOR LUCI STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
Luci Krueger was a member of The Association of Surgical Technologists for thirty-five years and was instrumental in the formation of the Wisconsin State Assembly; serving as our first President. Locally, she was on the Governing Board for the Wausau Surgical Technologist Program. Nationally, she attended many conferences as our Wisconsin delegate. Her commitment to improving Surgical Technology education was demonstrated as a CST exam review committee member.
Luci was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin and graduated from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College as a Surgical Technologist in 1971. She worked in the operating room at Appleton Memorial Hospital from 1971 to 1985 and then continued her career as a Surgical Assistant with Wausua Surgical Associates. In 2006, Luci lost her battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 54.
Luci valued human relationships above all else. She was always promoting the profession of surgical technology. The sadness of her death impacted the Wisconsin State Assembly. Those who were fortunate to know her remember the enthusiasm and vision she instilled for encouraging student involvement.
Therefore, as a continued expression of Luci’s dedication, this scholarship was created. It is our hope that you will choose to be an active member in the Wisconsin State Assembly as you proudly embark on your new career.

To the Board and Members of the Wisconsin State Assembly,
Recently, I was one of the students awathe “A Star for Luci” scholarship. I wanted to say Thank You, for both the scholarship and the opportunity to better my experience in the Surgical Technology Program. I will be using the money I received towards some of the tuition for next semester’s classes.
Thank you very much again!
